She Still Plays Around

Lyrics

My friend's got a new girl
Talks about her all of the time
Never seen him so happy
He can't wait 'til she meets me
One day introduction
Instant recognition
Bite my tongue and I wonder
Should I tell him about her?

That there's more than meets the eye
She's been seen with another guy
There's talk all over town
She still plays around

Got to broach the subject
Of his new girl's defect
It's a tough situation
Causing me some frustration
Will he shoot the messenger
Blinded by his love for her
Outlook seems to be so grim
Still I think I should tell him

Around and around
It's more than just her name all over town
And I know that she still plays around

My friend's got a new girl
She's become his whole world
Never seen him so happy
Should I tell him about me...

That there's more than meets the eye
I should know I was the other guy
Another one that's found
She still plays around

Miscellaneous Info

I asked Gene to come over and record a solo on the demo of this song. He had only heard the song once or twice before and yet, he came up with an excellent solo on about the 4th take. I think I rewarded him by making a nice stack of Francakes®.

Although I ended up re-recording just about everything on the demo, Gene's solo stayed and it's still the highlight of the song for me. Although, Soupy's playing is quite stellar as well. And I love the Rick Springfieldesque break down during the last verse. It's very Working Class Dog, don't you think?
