JOHN HOSKINSON "MISCELLANEOUS HEATHEN"
The American John Hoskinson earned his spurs with the Orange-County-Trio Ferocious Daisies and with Solo acoustic concerts. His solo album Miscellaneous Heathen lies somewhere in between these two poles. The eleven songs show the folk side of Hoskinson but also the rock style of his former band. In comparison to the material from Ferocious Daisies this demonstrate a completion of that direction. The songs, which repeatedly show a certain closeness to Crowded House, above all sound vocally well thought-through, and certainly Joe Ongie (plays with Aimee Mann), who mixed and mastered the album, must have helped the vocals. And "I Hope I Die Before You Do" is a wonderful testimony of love .
